Join us for a Summer Mixer: Uniting for Second Look!

Dear friends,

We are excited to invite you to a special summer mixer event in Detroit, brought to you by American Friends Service Committee and the Second Look Coalition. This event aims to gather individuals who have served long sentences and are now home, providing an opportunity to come together, connect, and support the Second Look Legislation.

We request you to share this invitation with anyone you know who has experienced long-term incarceration. The more individuals we can gather, the merrier the event will be!

What can you expect at the summer mixer? We have a fantastic lineup of activities planned for you. Join us as we hear from Senator Chang and other policy makers, enjoy lively music, savor delicious food at a family-style BBQ, and connect with like-minded individuals.

Additionally, this gathering will serve as an occasion to collect stories of lived experiences. We believe in the power of personal narratives to shed light on issues faced by those impacted by incarceration and how they’ve created solutions. Through sharing our stories, we can build understanding, empathy, and support for Second Look Legislation.

Mark your calendars for June 9th and join us at Milliken State Park in Detroit from 4-9pm. This beautiful outdoor setting will provide a perfect backdrop for a day filled with peace, love, and community.

If you’d like to read stories of lived experiences, we encourage you to visit This platform offers a collection of narratives that highlight the journey of individuals impacted by incarceration.
