MI-CEMI Comms Table: When and How to Respond to a Controversy
March 19 @ 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Every day there’s a new outrage and a new potential communications crisis:
- There’s a new internet rumor attacking your constituency (remember “the eating pets lies?)
- The opposition drops a terrible bill. You know it won’t go anywhere now, but you’re worried they are starting their messaging machine to play the long game.
- Somebody in your coalition gets arrested–and the charges don’t look good
When situations like these happen, do you respond so your message is part of the conversation? Or do you stay quiet to avoid drawing further attention to the story? How can you prepare now so that you are ready when crises like these emerge?
This panel will hear from experienced communications leaders about how to respond when and how to respond to a controversy.
