Solitary Justice Project: Bringing Real Voices to Solitary Policy Change

Join the Solitary Justice Project for a community event centered on the voices and experiences of people directly impacted by solitary confinement.

Attendees will hear from solitary confinement survivors, learn about current efforts to reform solitary confinement in Michigan, and explore what meaningful alternatives can look like. Special guest Joel Carter will share his lived experience and discuss his pending lawsuit against the Michigan Department of Corrections.

The evening will also include a solitary cell exhibit, information about proposed solitary confinement legislation, and an opportunity to learn more about the Solitary Justice Project Advisory Board and ongoing advocacy efforts.

This event is open to everyone impacted by or interested in ending the harmful use of solitary confinement—including people with lived experience, family members, advocates, and community members.
